Sir Alex: League Manager Of The Year
Sir Alex Ferguson's tenth Premier League title has been recognised by the League Managers' Association, who have voted him Manager of the Year. The Scot scooped the top award from his peers for the second time at Monday evening's awards ceremony in Nottingham, having previously won it in 1999. "It is a tremendous honour that my fellow managers should deem me worthy of this award." "I'm very proud to receive it," said a beaming Sir Alex.

Van Nistelrooy bears no grudge

Ruud van Nistelrooy bears no no ill feeling towards Sir Alex Ferguson following his summer departure to Real Madrid. "United was a fantastic time in my life, not only football but we met some wonderful people," he told The Times. "I turned down the opportunity twice to come here (Real Madrid) during my United days, but this time I could not say no." Van Nistelrooy was left out of United's squad to face Charlton on the final day of the 2005/06 season. He acknowledged there had been a disagreement with the United boss, but it was not so much an issue to have sullied the memory of his time in Manchester. "I owe him a lot and respect him a lot," van Nistelrooy added. "What happened wasn't so big not to talk to him. I said my thing and we just have to move on. "You move to another stage in your career but the memories remain from five fantastic years."

Man. Utd.  3 - 0   Seville
Louis Saha, Cristiano Ronaldo and David Jones were the scorers in an entertaining friendly match. United's temporary captain Ryan Giggs forced the first corner in the 3rd minute when his curling free-kick from the right was headed to safety by a Sevilla defender. It was a United defender who met Giggs' subsequent corner but Gabriel Heinze, playing his first game at Old Trafford since the Manchester derby in September 2005, headed wide. Saha and Park combined well moments later on the right flank but the Korean elected to square the ball instead of shooting after tricking his way into the area. Saha's next marauding run down the right drew a sliding challenge from Dirnei Renato and consequently another corner in the 6th minute. Ryan's in swinger served to cause more confusion and a third corner for the Reds. This time Ronaldo took it short on the left and when Heinze played the ball forward, Scholes headed it just over the crossbar. Tomasz Kuszczak replaced Van Der Sar in United's only half-time change. The icing on this final pre-season cake saw Richardson slipping a low pass into the path of Jones, who'd previously seen a venomous effort deflected wide for a corner. This time, the former youth team captain despatched a rasping shot beneath the embarrassed Palop. It was a fine goal to end a successful pre-season for United's promising young crop of young players.

6/11/05 PL H Man. Utd. 1 - 0 Chelsea
What a brilliant and unexpected victory over the bigheads!! United played well in the first half but had precious few chances. After 20 minutes Rooney and Paul Scholes combined to produce the games best chance. Rooney raced onto Silvestre's pass down
the left and his wonderful vision allowed him to pick out Scholes on the edge of the box. Scholes struck a magnificent half volley which just skimmed the wrong side of the post. However in the 31st minute young Fletcher scored the winner with a looping header after great work by Rooney and assisted by Ronaldo.

Henrik "Destroyer" Larsson
Birthplace:  Sweden - Position: Forward - Apps : 11 - Goals: 2  On Loan from Helsingborgs 1 Jan - 31 March 2007

Henrick LarssonIf the signing of 35 year-old Henrik Larsson raises the odd eyebrow, it's worth asking Arsčne Wenger what he thinks. For all the brilliance of Ronaldinho and co, it was the veteran Swede’s substitute cameo showing for Barcelona in Paris last spring that finally downed the Gunners’ Champions League challenge, inspiring Frank Rijkaard’s side to glory with assists for both goals. Larsson's arrival at Old Trafford on a two-and-a-half month loan also stirred the United dressing room. “A few of the senior players came to me and said ‘Good one. Where did you get that one from?’,” explained Sir Alex upon the Swede’s arrival. “There is genuine excitement about Henrik’s arrival.” The fact that he has forsaken pipe and slippers with his hometown club Helsingborgs suggests Larsson’s ambition still burns more brightly than he anticipated after leaving the Nou Camp in the summer. And there is no bigger flame to attract than the lure of a move to Old Trafford. Larsson's aerial skills and physical strength make him ideally suited to the cut and thrust of the British game, where he carved himself a place in Celtic folklore with a remarkable 242 goals in 300 games in a seven-year spell. He has since been rewarded with an MBE in 2006 for his services to British football. While at Parkhead, he won four SPL titles, two Scottish Cups and League Cups and the Golden Boot in 2000/01 as Europe’s leading scorer with 35 league goals - as well as reaching the UEFA Cup final of 2003, in which he scored twice as Porto beat Celtic 3-2. While his nous will surely prove invaluable cover in the Premiership as the rigours of the season take their toll, it will also add significant experience to United’s European challenge in the knockout stages. It is, without doubt, one of Sir Alex’s most intriguing transfer dealings. Since making his debut against Aston Villa (FA Cup 3rd round), and scoring the winning goal, he has been a great addition to the strike force. His movement on and off the ball has helped United to stay at the top.
